Inspired by Metal Urbain‘s synth-punk and Richard Pinhaus’ progressive/electronic explorations with Heldon, the prolific French artist Christian Renou has been producing homemade tape music under the Brume banner since 1977. His take on musique concrete hungrily devours tape music’s academic past, fusing it with brute noise, ambient/drone soundscapes, and DIY punk energy.
